Check-In Times Allow sufficient time to travel to the airport, know which terminal (Heathrow and Gatwick), keep tickets and passports handy and ensure hand baggage and liquids meet the airline’s requirements. It is advised to arrive early at the airport to allow for security checks and to prevent missing flights.

ID Requirements International and European flights All passengers must be in possession of a valid passport and, where required, a valid visa.

It is advised to inform the airline when booking of your disability to ensure prior arrangements are made to make the transit through the airport hassle free. It is advise that disabled passengers travel with a travelling companion.
Security Check There are increased security measures in place at all UK airports. It is best to allow plenty of time for security checks. Passengers are required to pass through a “Security Archway” All hand baggage will be screened by X-ray, re-sealable liquid bags, lighters, electric equipment and mobile phones will be screen separately, It is advised to save time to empty pockets, remove coats/jackets, watches, metal objects and jewellery before passing through the security archway, these will be screened with hand baggage. Hand Baggage Each passenger is permitted to carry ONE item of “Hand Baggage” (This includes Ladies Handbags and Laptops). In addition to the one item permitted each passenger may carry a musical instrument in its case. (No items other than the musical instrument and its accessories can be carried within its case). .The “Department for Transport” has set the maximum size for an item of “Hand Baggage” as 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including wheels, handles and external pockets. Some airlines may only allow smaller bags. Check before travel. Airlines may also have their own rules and measuring equipment regarding the number of bags that are permitted to be carried onto the aircraft, check before travel. Pack only valuables and essentials including tickets and passports that are required for the flight in “Hand Baggage”. Gifts must not be wrapped. Lighters must be carried on person (limited to 1 per passenger)
Liquids in Hand Baggage Any liquids (Drinks, Cosmetics Sprays, Deodorants, Perfume, Contact lens solution and any other solutions and items of similar consistency) in hand baggage must be in small containers of 100ml or less, (Containers of over 100ml even if not full will be confiscated at security).All liquid items must be placed in a single transparent re-sealable plastic bag of 20cm x 20cm (Bags are available at the Airports) Contents must fit inside the bag so it can be sealed (1 bag and 1 litre maximum limit per passenger), the bag must not be knotted or tied at the top. The bag must be carried separate from the hand baggage and presented for examination at the airport security point. It is advised to pack non-essential liquids in the “Hold Baggage” Liquids may be tested at security for authentication. To be able carry essential medicines of more than 100ml in hand baggage, prior approval is required from the airline and departure airport with supporting documentation from a relevant qualified medical professional (a doctors letter or prescription) Only take what is needed for the flight, extra supplies and larger containers of medicine should be packed in hold baggage. Baby food, Milk and sterilised water for infants may be carried in hand baggage providing it is in baby bottles, Only sufficient supplies for the flight can be conveyed, In some cases this may be over 100ml. The adult carrying the baby food or milk may be asked to verify it by tasting. 
Prohibited Items Any objects that can cause injury and put other passengers and cabin crew at risk. All Types of Metal Knives, Metal Cutlery (Except teaspoons), Darts, Toy Guns (Including water pistols) Corkscrews, Darts, Scissors with blades more than 6cm, Hypodermic Syringes (unless required for medical reasons with supporting documentation from a relevant qualified medical professional), Tradesman tools, Explosives, Flammable Substances, Guns, Firearms, Weapons, Chemical and Toxic Substances. Hold Baggage Weight restrictions apply usually between 15kg and 20kg per passenger. An “Excess Baggage Charge” will be charged for every kg above the limit! This can be expensive! Lighters Explosives, Flammable Substances, Guns, Firearms, Weapons, Toy Guns, replica Firearms, Water Pistols, Chemical and Toxic Substances are prohibited. All “Hold Baggage” is “X-rayed” and may be opened if suspicious items are detected and not loaded on to the aircraft. Departure Lounge (Shopping) Items purchased from the shops in the departure lounge (This includes “Duty Free” gifts and food or drink for the flight). If items purchased are contained a special sealed bag, do not open it until the final destination. Keep all receipt as they may be required to be presented to customs. Returning to the UK Hand Baggage rules apply in all EU countries and variations apply in other countries, best to check before travel.
